Need a bicycle trailer for your children. See what I have learned and maybe it will help you.A bicycle trailer can let you take the kids along too. There are two sections to this page: Special Needs Child / Adult Trailer Child TrailerWhen my wife and I started riding tandems, we really didn't give much thought to what we were going to do with the children. We didn't have any at the time. We could come and go as we pleased, sleep in, and live for ourselves. All of this changed when we had our daughter. We wanted to keep riding, but take her along with us as well. I wasn't too keen on the idea of the child seat with her being so small. Large angular We began searching for a bicycle trailer that would be comfortable for the children, store in a small space, and hold two kids with enough room where they wouldn't want to kill each other. After some time, we found the Chariot line of trailers. We purchased the Cougar model, which has since been replaced with the Chariot Corsaire XL

I have pulled this trailer on both my single bike and behind our tandem for many, many miles. Both of the kids really enjoy riding in the trailer. Our daughter drew us a picture the other day of us riding together as a family. I would guess from their hands up in the air and the smiles they like riding in the trailer.
Here are some close up shots of the bicycle trailer connection system. It is really well thought out and I have no concerns putting my two children in this and going for long distances. The pictures below are showing the connection on the back of my daughter's trail a bike.
There would have to be many, multiple points of failure for this bicycle trailer to come loose from the bike. I have no concerns. The suspension system is really nice. It allows you to adjust the ride for your kids based on the weight in the trailer. The adjustment goes up to 75 pounds which should be plenty of weight for two kids. You merely slide the little bar back and forth over the springs changing the fulcrum point and thus the effective length of the springs from the mounting point. Simple huh!
Take a look at the various Trailers for children There is a very unique vehicle out there if you are looking for a solution that is something different. A company called Zigo offers a bike, trailer, stroller vehicle that is like nothing you have ever seen.
Special Needs Child / Adult TrailerJust because you have a child or adult with special needs, it doesn't mean you can't take that child or adult with you on a bike ride. A bicycle trailer specially constructed for this use is one good way to let that special person in your life enjoy biking with you. If you want to go a step further and are comfortable with your special needs riders abilities, a trailer cycle might be what you are looking for. The weight requirements that older special needs children and adults require preclude them from using a standard bicycle trailer. If you are located in a major city, you might have luck locating a dealer that stocks a bicycle trailer designed for your rider. More than likely, however, you found this page because you weren't able to find a trailer for special needs children or adults. I have found one company that makes a large trailer for children and a very large trailer for adults. Wike Bicycle Trailers offers a large and very large trailer that has an easy entry system and heavy duty carrying capacity for your special needs child or adult. The total carrying capacity of the large child trailer is 125 pounds. The very large bicycle trailer is for the larger child / adult and expands the capacity to 150 pounds. They offer a number of accessories including side bolsters, head stabilizers and seat wedges for smaller children.

and see if one of them will work for you. You won't regret taking your kids with you on rides. Sure they will argue and can't keep their hands off of each other, but that is part of being a kid (and a parent), right!
